Nicky Stixx was a stage name with a Tampa-based band, Hollywood Boulevard. Wally sat in as drummer for a year. Part of the deal was to sport some 80’s-Metal fashion, starting with the hair.

Travel Tips & Equipment
Don’t leave home without it. As a matter of fact, get a second for the glove box in the vehicle and third one stashed in your gear.
Drummers on the road need to especially have a back up snare skin or a back up snare drum altogether.
Steady schedule? Steady gigs & load-ups call for protecting your drums with cases or bags. Mics and bass pedals need travel TLC too.
The price is usually right on this simple, single-compartment nylon cymbal bag, but replace it as soon as the zipper acts up.
A mic bag is safe & separate space for the electronics. Wipe them down after the gig to avoid oxidation on mics from sweat and beer!
Bring extra tees for the simple comfort of being dry and approachable after each set, so 3-to-5 tees for sure.
Some drummers find the perfect gloves for them, while others use some tape around blister-prone areas.

YBOR CITY GIG
Hairband Hollywood Boulevard needed a drummer & Wally took the gig for a year. The wig and an 80’s tee shirt for gigs was ridiculously mandatory, even during breaks.
From Tampa’s Hard Rock Cafe to bar stages from Ybor’s 7th Avenue and West to Clearwater. It was a hair band menu of energetic 80’s hits that worked me out, indeed.

Drum Kits of My History
Misty chrome Tama Rockstars
Tama Rockstars were purchased after being without drums for a while. Word spread upon purchase and it wasn’t long before back on a regular playing basis. The same will happen in 2026.
Custom Maple Pros 2009-'10
White alabaster pearl with maple shells gave off great resonance. but the hardware was crappy and couldn’t handle the gig life with repetitive setups & breakdowns. They had to go, and after only a year.
Forest Green Metallic Ludwigs
Most valued drum kit of the past, a 7-pc Ludwig. It paid for itself many times with over a decade of gigs.
